BBM Law is a small and very busy firm of legal aid solicitors based in London. They have been using the ZygoHubs service since September 2006. Neil Baxter, a partner at the firm, told us how they use their ZygoHub.

“The main reason we were interested in ZygoHubs was to help us to save time spent phoning around to find out where everyone is. We’re legal aid solicitors, and the nature of our work is quite unpredictable, and we often have to mobilise people quite quickly. Most of us are out and about during the day - visiting clients at police stations or courts - and, before Zygo came along, keeping tabs on everyone was a headache.

For instance when someone has been arrested we are sometimes given 30 mins notice that the police are ready for interview and need a solicitor at the police station asap.

Using the ZygoHub you can send one message asking where everyone is and when they are likely to be free. In the past we would have had to ring each fee earner individually, so Zygo helps us to save a lot of time. Using texts is often easier, as when we are at court we either need to have our phones off or on silent.

Zygo is also useful in the mornings. If we have a client kept in custody to appear in court the next morning, rather than trying to remember where everyone is without the benefit of the office diary, anyone can just send one message out from wherever they are to see which courts people are already attending.

It’s great for sharing knowledge as well: if someone has a legal query that they aren’t sure about then they can send a message out to the whole group in the hope that one of us can answer the question.

The service was easy to set up and everyone in the team got the hang of using it straight away. You just save the hub number in your phone and you’re up and running. We all use the service many times every day. It’s become part of our daily routine. If we had to give up the service tomorrow I’d feel we were moving backwards.”
